• Freecycle.org is a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. It's all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills.

• eBay.com With more than 90 million active users globally, eBay is the world's largest online marketplace, where practically anyone can buy and sell practically anything. Look for listings that include a donation to charity.

• Local classifieds and forums - community moderated, and largely free at Craigslist.org
