How do I register a charity?
Registering your charity is easy! Sign up in less than 5 minutes.
Set up an ID and password, and enter this information:
- Name of your non-profit
- Type of organization ("thrift shop to benefit cancer research", etc.)
- IRS tax ID number
- Wish list items (select from menu and enter specific "other" items directly)
- Whether you can pick up donations, they must be dropped off at location, or both.
- Days/Hours that you accept donations at your primary location
- Address and telephone
- Your Website (if any)
More locations are easily added by logging in to your account. Then click on "Submit". That's it!
I mistyped part of the address, how can I change it?
You will "Preview" all information before it is submitted. If you miss something on the preview screen and click "submit" before you correct it, you can log in to your account after it is available on the website and make your changes. YOU are responsible for making sure your information is correct and updated. We (and all your donors) thank you in advance for keeping your profile up to date.
How long does it take for our information to be on the website?
24-48 hours usually, but it can take longer. The sooner you start, the sooner your information will be available.
How do I add more locations for our charity?
Log in to the account and click on "additional locations".
How do I add to my wish list items?
Log in to your account and you can change all your information, including your Wish List.
We received the item we needed and don't need any more. How do I delete it from my wish list?
Log in to your account and delete it from your Wish List by clicking on it to "unselect" it.
Help Searching for Charities
How do I find a charity near me?
Type in your zip code and click "Give". If you don't know the zip code, do a google search for "(Your town) zip code" and copy it into the zip code box.
I want to donate a specific item. How do I search by item?
Enter your zip code and find your item in the drop down menu by scrolling through the list. Your item may not be specifically listed, so you may have to select a category, for example, instead of "child's coat", you would select "children's clothing".
The item I want to donate is not in the list of choices.
Search by zip code and then click on "Wish List" for the closest charities to see if you can find your item listed (it may be at the bottom of the list). If you can't find it, make some phone calls to those closest and ask.
How do I see a charity's Wish List?
In your results listings, click on the line that says "View Wish List".
What information can I get about local charities?
Our listings include:
- The name of the charity and distance from zip code
- Type of charity (example: food pantry)
- Address and telephone number
- Hours at that location (example: open M-F 9-5)
- Whether the charity can pick up your items or if you must drop them off
- The charity's website
- The charity's "Wish List" of items; items they need and accept as donations
What items can I donate?
Just about any item can be donated, although some things may be prohibited by law or for environmental reasons. Call the charity ahead of time to avoid a misunderstanding. Write down when you called and who you spoke to and bring that information with you when you make your donation if you are concerned the item might not be accepted.
